| INTRODUCTION |

This second biannual report features again new Cochrane reviews and protocols, as well as a series of recently published randomized controlled trials. The structure of the report remains largely unchanged, thus providing a summary of the latest systematic reviews and protocols produced by the Cochrane Haematological Malignancies Group (CHMG), followed by an overview of key features of recently published clinical trials in the field of hemato-oncology. Ongoing trials were not considered this time. The guiding principles for study selection were implication for clinical practice, methodological aspects, and timeliness. An electronic search of the Ovid Medline database (http://gateway.ut.ovid.com) was undertaken on 10 November 2004 and 5 January 2005. From 160 identified studies, eight randomized controlled trials were selected covering the publication period from January 2004 to December 2004. These summaries are aimed to assist the busy medical practitioner in the clinical decision-making for the benefit of patients under their
