Dr. Charlotte Higgins-Lee, a psychologist practicing in Oregon, had survived breast cancer herself for 9 years when she began writing this her first published work and 11 years by the time the book was published. Using her own experience with the disease and her experiences with her clients, she has written a book centered on the emotional aspects of breast cancer: the often phobic fears many women carry for years before they get the disease, the apprehensions during treatment, and the frequently overwhelming anxieties of recurrence for years afterwards.
