Erratum

"Fat Intake and Breast Cancer Revisited" by Stephanie A. Smith-Warner and Meir J. Stampfer [Journal of the National Cancer Institute 2007; 99:418–9 (Issue 6)]. We stated incorrectly that the association between saturated and monounsaturated fat intake and breast cancer risk in the National Institutes of Health (NIH)–AARP Diet and Health Study was stronger among current users of menopausal hormonal therapy than among never or former users of menopausal hormonal therapy (p. 418). Instead, the positive association with increasing saturated and monounsaturated fat intake was observed only among nonusers of menopausal hormonal therapy. Thus, the interaction observed in the NIH–AARP Diet and Health Study is opposite of (not similar to, as stated in the editorial) previously reported interactions by menopausal hormonal therapy use in the Pooling Project of Prospective Studies of Diet and Cancer and the Women's Health Initiative Dietary Modification Trial.
