Awards, Appointments, Announcements

  • Elizabeth Petri Henske, M.D., of the Fox Chase Cancer Center was awarded the second annual Society of Women's Health Research Medtronic Prize for Scientific Contributions to Women Health for her research on sex differences and women's health.
  • Memorial Sloan-Kettering Cancer Center won the Franz Edelman Award for Achievement in Operations Research, marking the first time the math award was given for medical treatment.
  • The Johnnie L. Cochran Jr. Brain Tumor Center opened May 3 at Cedars-Sinai Medical Center.
  • Donald L. Trump, M.D., has been appointed the new president and CEO of Roswell Park Cancer Institute.
  • The American Society of Clinical Oncology honored ten community oncology practices for their commitment to increasing participation in clinical trials. The honorees are Cancer Centers of Carolinas; Duluth Clinic Cancer Center; Kaiser Permanente, Northern California; New Hampshire Hematology-Oncology, P.A.; Northwest Cancer Specialists; Oncology Hematology Associates of Central Illinois; Scottsdale Medical Imaging; Summa Health System Hospitals; and University of Texas Health Science Center at San Antonio.
