Chemopreventive effects of deguelin on 4-(methylnitrosoamino)-1-(3-pyridyl)-1-butanone (NNK)/benzo(a)pyrene (BaP)-induced lung tumorigenesis in A/J mice. A/J mice were untreated (group 1) or treated with NNK/BP for 8 weeks followed by treatment for vehicle (corn oil) (group 2) or deguelin (4 mg/kg) twice/day beginning 1 week after the first dose of NNK/BaP (group 3). In group 4, deguelin was administered after the carcinogen administration was complete and continued until the mice were killed at 20 weeks. Lungs were collected and stained with Bouin's solution and then photographed.
