Awards, Appointments, Announcements
- R. Lor Randall, M.D., director of sarcoma services at the Huntsman
Cancer Institute in Salt Lake City, and associate professor of orthopedics at
the University of Utah School of Medicine, has been presented with the
Musculoskeletal Tumor Society Scholar Award from the Association of Bone and
Joint Surgeons. The society gives the award to a young investigator who has
made the most substantial research contributions within the last year.
- Michelle M. Le Beau, Ph.D., has been appointed the director of the
University of Chicago Cancer Research Center. Le Beau is a professor of
medicine in the section of hematology/oncology and the committee on genetics,
chair of the committee on cancer biology, and director of the Cancer
Cryogenetics Laboratory.
- Anne Giuliano, Ph.D., has been named the new program leader for risk
assessment, detection, and intervention at the H. Lee Moffitt Cancer Center
and Research Institute in Tampa, Fla. She was previously co-director of the
cancer prevention and control program at the Arizona Cancer Center.
- Simon Powell, Ph.D., has been appointed head of the Department of
Radiation Oncology at Washington University School of Medicine in St. Louis.
Powell was head of the breast cancer service and clinical director of the
Gillette Women's Cancer Center Program at Massachusetts General Hospital in
Boston.
