Awards, Appointments, Announcements

{blacksquare} Robert G. Uzzo, M.D., has been appointed to the Division of Medical Science at Fox Chase Cancer Center in Philadelphia. Uzzo was previously an attending surgeon in the Department of Surgical Oncology. His research interests focus on the treatment of kidney, prostate, testicular, and bladder cancers.

Eric M. Horwitz, M.D., also has been appointed to the Division of Medical Science at Fox Chase Cancer Center. He was previously in the Department of Radiation Oncology. His expertise is in treating patients with prostate cancer and head and neck cancers.

{blacksquare} James G. Asher has been named executive director of the Alliance for Lung Cancer Advocacy, Support, and Education (ALCASE). Asher is a lung cancer survivor and recently served as treasurer on the board of ALCASE.

{blacksquare} K. Michael Cummings, Ph.D., chair of the Department of Health Behaviors in the Division of Cancer Prevention and Population Sciences at Roswell Park Cancer Institute in Buffalo, N.Y., received the 2003 Joseph W. Cullen Memorial Award at the annual meeting of the American Society of Preventive Oncology in March.

The award recognizes achievements in national tobacco control efforts, research, development of prevention and cessation programs, and public policy initiatives.
