Awards, Appointments, Announcements
Paul K. Wallace, Ph.D., has been appointed director of Flow Cytometry Research in the Department of Pathology and Laboratory Medicine at Roswell Park Cancer Institute in Buffalo, N.Y. Wallace was previously at Dartmouth Medical School, Hanover, N.H., and was a faculty member of the Norris Cotton Cancer Center at Dartmouth.
George C. Samaras, M.D., has been elected president of the Anne Arundel Medical Center in Annapolis, Md. Samaras practices with Annapolis Internal Medicine, L.L.D., and specializes in nephrology.
Neurosurgeon Thomas B. Ducker, M.D., has been elected vice president of the medical center and anesthesiologist Paul Elder, M.D., has been elected secretary/treasurer. New members at large include Meredith Garrett, M.D., Doug Mitchell, M.D., and Ken Gummerson, M.D.
Nominations are being sought for the Paul Marks Prizes for Cancer Research. The prizes will recognize significant discoveries made by outstanding investigators up to the age of 45 at the time of the award. Up to three investigators will share the cash award of $125,000. The awards are named for Paul Marks, M.D., president emeritus of the Memorial Sloan-Kettering Cancer Center, New York.
