{blacksquare} The American Society for Therapeutic Radiology and Oncology has elected new officers to its board of directors.

The new officers include president-elect Prabhakar Tripuraneni, M.D., head of radiation oncology and associate director of the Green Cancer Center at Scripps Clinic in La Jolla, Calif; treasurer Leonard L. Gunderson, M.D., chair of radiation oncology and deputy director of clinical affairs at the Mayo Clinic in Scottsdale, Ariz.

Newly elected council chairs include Michael Steinberg, M.D., Santa Monica Cancer Treatment Center, Santa Monica, Calif.; George E. Laramore, M.D., Ph.D., University of Washington, Seattle; Bruce D. Minsky, M.D., Memorial Sloan-Kettering Cancer Center, New York; Randall K. Ten Haken, Ph.D., University of Michigan Medical Center, Ann Arbor, Mich.; Richard T. Hoppe, M.D., Stanford University, Stanford, Calif.; Ivy A. Peterson, M.D., Mayo Clinic, Rochester, Minn.; Christopher M. Rose, M.D., Valley Radiotherapy Associates, Los Angeles, Calif.; David C. Beyer, M.D., Arizona Oncology Services, Scottsdale, Ariz.; Mark W. Dewhirst, D.V.M., Ph.D., Duke University Medical Center, Durham, N.C.; C. {blacksquare} Brent B. Stanfield, Ph.D., has been named acting director of the National Institutes of Health’s Center for Scientific Review, which organizes the peer review groups that evaluate the majority of grant applications submitted to the NIH. Stanfield was previously director of the Office of Science Policy and Program Planning at the National Institute of Mental Health.
