Correction
In a News story in the Feb. 20 issue of the Journal ("Mutation Analysis Suggests Role for Ribonuclease L Gene in Prostate Cancer," p. 244), the work of Robert Silverman, Ph.D., was credited to another scientist. Silverman was a co-author of the Nature Genetics article (Nature Genetics 2002; 30:181-4) discussed in the News story and has been studying the function and role of RNase L at the Lerner Research Institute at the Cleveland Clinic Foundation for more than a decade. In addition, the function of RNase L, as described in a review article, was incorrectly summarized. RNase L is a ribonuclease for single-stranded RNA involved in the mechanism of action of interferons. The News regrets the errors.
