Awards, Appointments, Announcements

Donald L. Trump, M.D., has been honored as Vectors/Pittsburgh Science Man of the Year for 2001.

Trump is the deputy director for clinical investigations at the University of Pittsburgh Cancer Institute. He is also chief of the Division of Hematology and Oncology in the University of Pittsburgh’s Department of Medicine.

Established in 1939, Vectors/Pittsburgh is a nonprofit service organization whose mission is to improve the quality of living for the community.

Eng Honored

Charis Eng, M.D., Ph.D., director of the Clinical Cancer Genetics Program at the Arthur G. James Cancer Hospital and Richard J. Solove Institute, Columbus, Ohio, has been elected to the American Society for Clinical Investigation.

ASCI considers the nominations of several hundred physician-scientists from the United States and abroad each year and elects up to 80 new members each year for their research accomplishments.

AACI Elects Board Members

The Association of American Cancer Institutes, Pittsburgh, elected three new members to its board of directors.

The new directors are: H. Shelton Earp III, M.D., director of the Lineberger Comprehensive Cancer Center, Chapel Hill, N.C.; William N. Hait, M.D., Ph.D., director of the Cancer Institute of New Jersey, New Brunswick; and Nicholas J. Vogelzang, M.D., director of the University of Chicago Cancer Research Center, Chicago.

OTIR Launches Web Site

The National Cancer Institute’s Office of Technology and Industrial Relations has launched a new Web site at http://www.cancer.gov/otir.

Designed primarily as a point of entry into NCI for private industry and technology developers, the Web site provides information on funding opportunities, how to access NCI research resources, and how to establish scientific collaborations with NCI scientists. The site also provides an overview of NCI and its scientific priorities. For additional information, visit the Web site or call OTIR at 301-496-1550.
