Cancer Susceptibility Testing Survey
The National Cancer Institute is conducting a survey of primary care physicians in the United States to determine how widely they use genetic tests for cancer susceptibility.NCI will collect information about physicians' use, knowledge of, and attitudes toward these genetic tests, which check DNA samples for inherited genetic mutations associated with an increased risk of certain types of cancer. Survey participants will include obstetrician/gynecologists, as well as family and general practitioners. Their answers will be compared with specialists, such as gastroenterologists, surgeons, urologists, and oncologists, who also will be surveyed. Abt Associates Inc., an applied research firm, will conduct the study.
