Correction

In a news story about the epithelial-to-mesenchymal transition (EMT) in the Feb. 20, 2008 issue (Vol. 100, No. 4), Venkateshwar Keshamouni, Ph.D., was misquoted regarding a speculative link between cancer stem cells and EMT. His actual statement was: "Maybe all tumor cells may not have the ability to undergo EMT, but only tumor stem cells can undergo EMT and have the ability to grow in distant sites." In the article, the phrase "may not" was omitted. In addition, a statement, "the definitive milestone paper has yet to be published," was attributed to Erik Thompson, Ph.D., when in fact it was an assertion by the story's author.
