CORRESPONDENCE

Erratum

"Conjugated Equine Estrogen and Risk of Benign Proliferative Breast Disease: a Randomized, Controlled Trial" by Rohan et al. [J Natl Cancer Inst 2008; 100(8):563–571]. The information presented in the third paragraph of the Results section on the histologic sections reviewed for the study should have read as follows: "Of the sections reviewed, 71 were from biopsies that occurred outside the trial period and 39 had no breast tissue; these 110 sections were excluded from further consideration. The 520 eligible sections that were reviewed were from 478 women. Of these women, 3 were excluded due to censoring (so that the corresponding section was excluded from further consideration), 3 had no pathological diagnosis, 240 had a non-proliferative lesion, and 232 had an incident benign proliferative lesion." Because events and event-times were accounted for appropriately in the analysis, the total numbers of each type of specimen (no pathological diagnosis, non-proliferative lesion, or incident benign proliferative lesion) were unchanged and the results presented in the manuscript are not affected by this correction. The authors regret the error.
