In his 1748 article "Advice to a Tradesman," Benjamin Franklin famously wrote, "Remember that time is money." There is no doubt that this adage can be applied to the time we spend seeking medical care in the 21st century. Still, when we think of cancer care and the substantial costs of today's treatment, researchers and policy makers tend to forget that time costs are a very real and very human component of the total economic burden of cancer.
