Awards, Appointments, Announcements
The American-Italian Cancer Foundation presented awards at its annual benefit gala in November. The 2000 Life Achievement Award was presented to Nancy G. Brinker, founding chairman of the Susan G. Komen Breast Cancer Foundation, for her devotion to eradicating breast cancer as a life-threatening disease.
Alberto Costa, M.D., received the AICFs 2000 Award for International Scientific Exchange in Medicine. Costa, director of the European School of Oncology in Milan, was honored for his efforts to promote international cooperation in cancer research, treatment, and patient advocacy.
