The Breast Cancer Alliance of Greenwich, Conn., presented Vincent T. DeVita Jr., M.D., with its 1999 Mary Waterman Award.DeVita, who is director of the Yale Cancer Center, New Haven, Conn., was honored for "his outstanding achievements in the fight against cancer." Specifically, he was cited for his role in developing combination chemotherapy programs that led to effective treatments for Hodgkin's disease, diffuse large-cell lymphoma, and breast cancer.
